JESUS CHRIST
and the EVANGELISM COMMITTEE of Our Shepherd
invites YOU to be an EVANGELIST!Jesus Christ calls us and sends us "to make disciples of all people baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." You answer this call every time you invite, support, encourage and witness, in word and deed, in conversation and service. The Evangelism Committee offers a vision of outreach ministry for our congregation and various opportunities for you to live as an Evangelist. Please join in these activities, and contact either of the pastors for information or to offer suggestions.
Some current Evangelism activities are...
Evangelism is the mission we share, and we invite you to be an Evangelist at Our Shepherd by your prayers, participation, suggestions, and an Evangelist to all the world by your witness in words and deeds to the Good news which is Christ Jesus our Lord!
- Cookie Patrol - As many local visitors as possible are visited by a lay person to thank them for sharing worship and to provide home baked cookies. Anyone willing to bake or visit is invited to participate.
- New Member Receptions - A Coffee and Dessert Reception is provided for each group of new members that join Our Shepherd. We can always use extra hands to set up tables, bake goodies, and tend a helping hand with cleanup.
- New Member Sponsors - Each new member family is assigned a sponsor family to help them get acquainted with Our Shepherd and its programs. The sponsor family can invite their new member family to any of the programs offered by the church and help the newcomers connect with new friends in the congregation.
- Greeting Cards - This program sends get well, sympathy and/or congratulations cards to our members, depending upon the situation, on behalf of the congregation. This is another way of touching base and caring for others.
- Prayer Chain - Special prayers are offered at any time during the week for anyone who might have a special need. Prayer needs can be shared with the church office or the pastors anytime.
- Newborn Ministry - Each new birth in the Congregation is celebrated with a rose on the altar during worship, and the parents of the new baby are visited and given the rose and a lullaby tape.
- Visitor Welcome - It is the intent of the Evangelism Committee to welcome all visitors to Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. We want to reach out and welcome our visitors so they might feel at home here, so all are encouraged to greet and meet the strangers who are yet our sisters and brothers in Christ.
- Witness -
- Ministry to Inactives: Phone calls, special invitations, visits when needed - these are some of the ways we are trying to renew and restore relationships with those members who have become inactive. This is a growing area of ministry at Our Shepherd, and we ask your support this year.
- Witness: Communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ by example and by showing caring concern for our church family, our neighbors, and the world in which we live.
