Further, we maintain the church grounds by keeping the shrubs and trees pruned and mulched. In the spring, we hold a clean-up day, usually a Saturday when we rake and dispose of all leaves and mulch all the plants and bushes around the church and parking lot. Usually 30 plus members turn out for this occasion.
Most of the above work is done by the Thursday Morning Work Crew. We meet at 8:30 A.M. and usually work till Noon. We have a good time at these sessions. We added a new twist, in that we now prepare and serve breakfast on the first Thursday of each month. If you would like to join us in this satisfying work, please contact Earl Bohlman or Dave Claffy. If you can’t make the specified time and date sessions, there are projects that can be accomplished when you have the time. We always need help watering the shrubs and flowers in the Memorial Garden. As always we encourage you to volunteer.
We all know that today’s labor rates, for service work, is very expensive. With the Property Committee performing 90% to 95% of all repairs and maintenance we greatly reduce the expenses to our church.
The Property Committee consisting of between 8 and 13 members works diligently to keep our church in good repair. In an effort to keep our congregation warm in the winter and cool in the summer we keep the heating plant and air condition units well maintained throughout the year. Most carpentry, electrical, plumbing, masonry work, etc., is performed by volunteer members experienced in these fields. Tasks performed cover all maintenance disciplines.
